This is my faith.

See, my faith I dissect and I stir it like a mixture,

and I weigh the effects and compare it with the scriptures,

and I play, I eject, till I wear it like a cincture – and it’s nearly an addiction!

Can you hear it, am I switched on? Testing, testing…

This is my faith.

And on my tongue it’s the creed, n’ in my lungs it’s the breathing,

And as long as I’m living, it’s my song, it’s my rhythm

till I’m hung and I’m bleeding…it’s all that I’m given.

It’s all that’s handed down to us – it’s not calculus.

It’s not mathematics or addition.

It’s the Mass, it’s the vision. It is love…the Tradition.

And I ask the Mediatrix to keep me strong in my mission.

 

So subtract the attractions and retract back the factions,

and with one, holy, universal action re-ignite.

And when underlined by the Passion, we define a fraction

that’s equal to the value of life.

or ways that Beelzebul equates to make believable – the lies he multiplies.

HISTORY

The Community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal was begun in 1987 by eight Capuchin friars desiring to work more definitively for personal and communal reform within the Catholic Church. The life and apostolate of the friars are rooted in the ideals and spirit of the Capuchin reform born in the early 16th century.


mISSION

"The primary mission of our community is a wholehearted embracing of Jesus Christ and our Holy Father St. Francis. Through our commitment to prayer and contemplation, the study of Sacred Scripture, and our fidelity to the Church and the Sacraments, our fraternal life, and our generous service to others, especially the poor, we receive nourishment necessary to live out our lives as sons of St. Francis in the Capuchin tradition." --CONSTITUTIONS OF THE FRANCISCAN FRIARS OF THE RENEWAL


PRAYER

As disciples of Jesus Christ, and as true sons of St. Francis, we strive both individually and communally to become authentic men of prayer.  Prayer is the very heart of our way of life. Through personal and liturgical prayer, recitation of the Divine Office, daily Eucharistic adoration, and the rosary recited in common, all of our offerings and work aim for an intimate union with God.


FRATERNITY

We live together as brothers.  We pray together as brothers.  We serve together as brothers.  

 

oUR WORK WITH THE POOR

One of our apostolic missions is to serve the materially poor, most especially the destitute and homeless. By living in poor neighborhoods, running homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and youth programs, friars strive to fulfill the command of the Gospel and our Holy Father St. Francis to live among the poor, providing for their physical and spiritual needs.
