RENEWAL IN MOTION

Renewal in Motion.  The production that got us started.  Renewal in Motion has reached over 3 million people, been shown on multiple television stations, in various countries and continents, and has been the topic of stories and interviews on the radio, in print, and on digital media sites.  But most importantly, it has helped introduce its audience to Mary's Meals, an organization that feeds more than 1 MILLION of the world's poorest children in their places of education -- EVERYDAY.

LYRICS/CHORDS

JACOB'S SONG

C#m     A          E          B

You know these times be tough with all the hatred and the violence,

All I’m looking for is a little bit of silence,

To be with you while I’m down on my knees,

Oh my God, I’m begging you please to

Batter my heart my Three Person God,

Break down this old, weary façade,

And show yourself.

Please show yourself in me.

C#m     E          B          A

Oh my God, oh my savior,

Up above, please hear my prayer.

Crying out to my mother Zion,

Mother Mary comforts me,

Speaking words of wisdom,

“Soon you’ll see, soon you will see,”

And then He comes like a still, small voice,

Way deep down in my soul,

And you show yourself.

Yes, you show yourself in me.

You come in the still small voice;

You come in the still small voice.

You come in the still small voice,

And you say, “Let there be light.”

You say, “Let there be light.”

You say, “Let there be light.”

You say, “Let there be light,”

And there is light, and light shines in the darkness.

GOOD SHEPHERD

B          F#        E          Em

The Lord is my Good Shepherd,

There is nothing I shall want,

Nothing I shall want,

I shall not want, no.

B          F#        C#m     Em

Fresh and green, fresh and green are the paths unseen,

But still the road is dark, you know, I just can’t see,

You see, here down below dark night’s got my soul,

And the devil doesn’t seem to wanna let me go,

But still I cling, still I cling, still I cling to the King,

Or rather He clings to me, and sets my soul at peace,

And though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

Your rod and staff, they keep my heart at rest.

In these still, still waters, still the waters rage,

This life can be a cage full of storms that we’ve made,

And sin—the source of destruction…without Christ we can’t function,

But you prepare the table and you anoint my head,

And in the Eucharist, you know, my soul is fed,

And though my enemies surround me, your life it abounds in me.

We are so deeply loved.

The King of love, the King of love my shepherd is,

And there’s a peace just knowing that this life is His,

And that’s a peace that the world can’t give,

Cuz we are all His,

So let it be, let it be, be it done unto me,

Cuz in your will I am free, free, free to be me,

So very free…free indeed,

My God and my All.

STRONGHOLD SUNSHINE

(Cap 3)

F          C          F          C

You are my stronghold, you are my savior,

You are my shelter, you are my shield,

You are my sunshine, you are my new day,

And in your gaze, all my fears fade away.

(Cap 3)

G          D/A       F          C

And though the mountains may fall,

And the seas they roll away,

I will not fear, I will not be afraid.

And though kingdoms be shaken,

And the earth, she shrinks away,

I will not fear, I will not be afraid.

HARBOR OF MY SOUL

Em       Bm       C          G

Harbor of my soul,

Your presence is my peace,

My life is in your hands,

So what else do I need?

When the seas rise,

Beneath your wings, I can hide, I can hide,

When the wind blows,

There is one place I can go.

It is you, my Lord, my God, my All (it is you, Jesus)

It is you, my Lord, my God, my All (hidden within me)

It is you, my Lord, my God, my All (waiting in silence)

I know a place

Where we can find a home,

Shelter from the raging storm,

A place where you’re never alone;

In every silence there’s a Presence that gives rest;

Deep within you’ll find a kingdom forever blessed.

Beyond these seas

There is a shore that knows no lack,

Though the wind and waves

Would tell me to turn back;

I set my course to you,

I know I will survive,

For your presence bears me on and gives me life.

“Come to me.”

He says, “Come to me.”

“Come to me, oh dear children,

Come to me, and I will give you rest.”

He says, “Come to me...”

BROOMSTICK MEDLEY

F#        B

F#        C#        B

Sweep, sweep, sweep, oh my soul,

Sweep, sweep, sweep, oh my soul,

Sweep, sweep, sweep, oh my soul,

For love, for love, for love!

Like the dawn you wake the world in me,

Like the dawn you wake the world in me,

Like the dawn you wake the world in me,

And you capture my heart, with your beauty.

When I lose my grip, that’s when I find my freedom,

When I lose my grip, that’s when I find my freedom,

When I lose my grip, that’s when I find my freedom,

So I let go.

I’m gonna pick up my broom, yeah,

I’m gonna pick up my broom, yeah,

I’m gonna pick up my broom, and I’ll follow you,

With that “Sweep…sweep…sweep…”

That’s my heart’s love tune.

SIGH ON

C          F          C          F

Sighs of love

In deepest sighs of love

Let my prayer rise

Like incense in your sight.

Am       F          C          G

Deep is calling on deep

In the roar of the waters.

RECEIVE ME (I'M YOURS)

Cap 3

C F A m G

You loosen my grip (on life),

You lighten my heart (O Love),

You relax my soul

in your tender arms.

Cap 3    FCGG

And you quiet my heart

with this love-filled silence;

You quiet my heart,

 O Love.

Cap 3    CFAmG

To your hands, my life,

To your paths, my feet,

To you, O Lord,

I abandon everything.

Cap 3    AmFCC

For you are good (my every good),

And you are true;

And your love for me is unwearied, Lord;

Yes your love me’s so deep, so good.

Cap 3    CFAmG

To your hands, my life,

To your paths, my feet,

To you, O Lord,

I abandon everything.

rising

I believe there’s a morning not followed by night

When all the blind that are calling will be given new sight

I believe that all children who come to You Christ

Are free cos You heal them, You hear all our cries

I believe in Your Love

I believe in Your Love

And that You heal all the fallen

And with You we’re rising

I believe in Your mercy, like oceans it flows

For all who are thirsty, for all our sorrows

I believe we’ll rise higher with hearts made low

And that Your heart is a fire when it’s dark and it’s cold

And it is well with my soul

And it is well with my soul

And You heal all the fallen

And with You we’re rising

I believe in Your Love

I believe in Your Love

And that You heal all the fallen

And with You we’re rising

And You heal all the fallen

And with You we’re rising

OF THE rENEWAL

HISTORY

The Community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal was begun in 1987 by eight Capuchin friars desiring to work more definitively for personal and communal reform within the Catholic Church. The life and apostolate of the friars are rooted in the ideals and spirit of the Capuchin reform born in the early 16th century.

mISSION

"The primary mission of our community is a wholehearted embracing of Jesus Christ and our Holy Father St. Francis. Through our commitment to prayer and contemplation, the study of Sacred Scripture, and our fidelity to the Church and the Sacraments, our fraternal life, and our generous service to others, especially the poor, we receive nourishment necessary to live out our lives as sons of St. Francis in the Capuchin tradition." --CONSTITUTIONS OF THE FRANCISCAN FRIARS OF THE RENEWAL

PRAYER

As disciples of Jesus Christ, and as true sons of St. Francis, we strive both individually and communally to become authentic men of prayer.  Prayer is the very heart of our way of life. Through personal and liturgical prayer, recitation of the Divine Office, daily Eucharistic adoration, and the rosary recited in common, all of our offerings and work aim for an intimate union with God.

FRATERNITY

"The Lord gave me brothers."  From the Testament of St. Francis

We live together as brothers.  We pray together as brothers.  We serve together as brothers.

oUR WORK WITH THE POOR

One of our apostolic missions is to serve the materially poor, most especially the destitute and homeless. By living in poor neighborhoods, running homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and youth programs, friars strive to fulfill the command of the Gospel and our Holy Father St. Francis to live among the poor, providing for their physical and spiritual needs.

CATHOLIC UNDERGROUND

Catholic Underground ©, a.k.a. CU, is a cultural apostolate of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.

It is a direct response to a call that began with Pope St. John Paul II, was taken up by Pope Benedict XVI, and has been continued by Pope Francis.  St. John Paul IIsaid that because the Gospel lives in conversation with culture, we must be fearless in crossing the cultural threshold of the communication and information revolution now taking place.
